Your Banner passwords affects Banner, SQL, MS Access when connecting to our oracle databases, and any user created programs that connect to our oracle databases. These passwords do not affect Banner Web, Blackboard, Email, or Computer logons.

You have three (3) Banner passwords. One for each database, Production, Test, and Experimental. Each of theses passwords could have different expiration dates depending on when you changed them. When Test and/or Experimental are refreshed your password for Test and/or Experimental will be what you had in Production.

If you let your password get close to expiring and try to log into Banner or Sql, you will be notified that you have x number of days of logins before your password expires. If you get this notification it is highly recommended that you change your password now instead of waiting until the last day or until your accout is locked. You will still be able to use Sql or Banner, however you will experience problems with Banner's job submission and could have problems with other software that connects to our databases.

To change your password, log into Banner the normal way and enter the form name GUAPSWD. When the new form shows up, you will be required to enter in your old password and your new password (twice). Leave the database field blank. Don't forget to click on the OK button.

After changing your password and you use MS Access to connect to any tables in our databases it is highly recommended that you relink all of your tables.

Password rules:
  1. Passwords expire every 180 days
  2. Passwords must be at least 8 characters long - no more than 10
  3. Passwords must start with a letter
  4. Passwords must contain at least 1 number (0..9)
  5. Passwords must contain at least 1 of the following punctuation marks
    # % ^ * ( )
  6. If you attempt to log in with an incorrect password 5 consecutive time your account will be locked for 1 hour. To have your accunt unlocked, please call the Banner Applications Group at 9921, 9559, 9766 or 5817
